Subject: Toastmasters April 14th DEC & Penny Cole Award Nominations

Hello Division Governors,

The District 12 Spring Conference is fast approaching! That means that it is now time to encourage nominations for the Penny Cole Award Achievement Award! 

The Penny Cole Achievement Award is given annually to the District Toastmaster who has done the most for Toastmasters through Toastmaster and community involvement, in the Penny Cole tradition.  The recipient must be a member in good standing of a District 12 Club in good standing.  The Award will be presented by the District Governor at the Spring Conference.  The presentation of this award is reserved for only the District.

Please inform your Area Governors to let their Club Officers and members know that nominations will be accepted until April 25, 2007.   

You are encouraged to send in a nomination for someone you think is deserving.  All nominations need to be in writing and can be mailed or e-mailed to me.  Alternately, some may want to hand the nomination to me personally at our Super Saturday Public Relations Workshop scheduled for 12:00 noon on Saturday April 14th at ESRI in Redlands. (Details are posted on the District 12 Website.)

(This workshop will begin shortly after the final District Executive Council Meeting which begins at 10:30 a.m., Saturday April 14th. All Division and Area Governors need to attend this final DEC meeting!)

However you choose to deliver Penny Cole Award nominations, I  must be receive the nomination by the end of the day on April 25th.

The Penny Cole Award will be presented at the Hall of Fame Banquet at the Spring Conference on May 5th

I look forward to seeing all District Officers on Saturday April 14th at 10:30 a.m. (at ESRI) for the DEC.  I also look forward to seeing many club officers and members at noon-time on April 14th for our free Super Saturday Public Relations Workshop.

EXCERPT FROM THE DISTRICT 12 PROCEDURES MANUAL REGARDING NOMINATIONS FOR THE PENNY COLE ACHEIVEMENT AWARD

VII-5 PENNY COLE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

The Penny Cole Achievement Award will be given annually to the District Toastmaster who has done the most for Toastmasters through Toastmaster and community involvement, in the Penny Cole tradition.  The recipient must be a member in good standing of a District 12 Club in good standing.  The Award will be presented by the District Governor at the Spring Conference.  The presentation of this award is reserved for only the District.

VII-5.1 Eligibility.  A Toastmaster who has served or is serving as an elected/appointed officer above Club level and is active in the community.

VII-5.2 Selection. The District Governor, in consultation with the District Lieutenant Governors, Education and Marketing, will decide the recipient of the award.

VII-5.3 Qualification. The Award will be given to that Toastmaster who best exemplifies Penny Cole's involvement in Toastmasters and the community.  The Award will be based on:

   a. Overall District activities, a person who has been instrumental in the success of the District, and/or
  
   b. Input from Clubs or Area Governors recommending individuals for the Award.

VII-5.4 Nominations.  Although nominations are optional, Toastmasters may be recommended for the Award.  The District Governor must receive nominations not later than April 15.

1.  The Nomination submittal should contain the following information:

Toastmasters Offices Held
Toastmaster Background
Toastmaster Involvement/Achievements
Community Involvement/Achievements
Other Activities
