Past District Governor 2004-2005

There is a great enthusiasm and abundant energy throughout District 12! The members of District 12 had great achievements and success this past year! Together we learn, grow, achieve and succeed. You've probably heard before, our member being successful means we are successful. Come celebrate our member's achievements at the Toastmasters International Conference in Toronto Canada From the Opening Ceremonies with the traditional Parade of Flags from all the countries in Toastmasters Wednesday evening August 18. The Golden Gavel Luncheon on Thursday features the recipient of the Golden Gavel Award and gives recognition to the Distinguished Districts. The Hall of Fame is Friday afternoon where District 12 will go on stage, as Toastmasters recognizes outstanding performance in meeting member needs. Be there with us as we fully participate in the Conference and attend the stellar educational presentations from Wednesday through Saturday.

Friends Helping Friends

You inspire me to be the best District Governor I can be, serving you, the members of District 12 as our high performance Leadership Team works to assist our members to meet their personal communication and leadership goals. The District 12 Leadership Team has a vision in place, with clearly established objectives to meet the goal of being a Distinguished District by April 30, and a Select Distinguished District by June 30. We are fully capable of achieving this, but only with the help of every member of District 12. This is attained by addressing the four critical success factors, which are completing Competent Toastmaster Awards, Advanced Toastmaster Awards, and bringing in new members and new clubs!

We were number 20 out of 82 districts in the world this past year. Our goal for this year is to be number 12 or better. Together we can do it! We're 1400 members strong with 88 clubs. We are an awesome Toastmasters Family as we progress together on our Toastmasters Journey. We're always working to be the best we can be. Some tips on making this possible is:

Be prepared to the best of your ability, be on time, be a Mentor, be passionate about Toastmasters, be committed to service leadership and be dedicated to being the best Toastmaster possible. We encourage you to set new personal goals for this year, to complete your Competent Toastmaster Award, progress through the Advanced Toastmaster Awards, Competent Leader Award, complete a High Performance Leadership Project, become an Advanced Leader, culminating in becoming a Distinguished Toastmaster. Take advantage of the opportunities available in Toastmasters to further develop your leadership skills. Talk to your club president or Area Governor about the various leadership opportunities available in District 12. Come to the Spring District Conference, Toastmasters Leadership Institute or volunteer to help with the upcoming Club, Area or Division Speech Contests.

Life's too short. Let's have fun as we travel this path together, with a sense of adventure, on our Toastmasters Journey as "Friends Helping Friends Succeed, One at a Time." If you're not having fun, you're not doing it right!

Best Regards Always,

Lois
