DISTRICT 12 MEMBERSHIP PROGRAMS

The life blood is members, the more we have the bigger the audience can be when we present our speeches, the more that we can share the tasks at a meeting, and the more members available to take leadership roles.  District 12 recognizes the importance of recruiting new members and retaining old members.  We also feel the importance of having young people join our clubs.  Therefore, we have created several different membership and achievement contests designed to motivate our members to actively recruit new members.  They are:

1.     Recognize top membership recruiters

2.     Recognize club youth recruitment

3.     Recognize clubs that recruit at least ten new members during the year 2007-2008

4.     Recognize clubs that gain at least 5 new members during August and September, 2007 (Ralph Smedley Award)

5.     Recognize clubs that have achieved at least 5 goals in the Distinguished Club Program by December 31, 2007

We all joined Toastmasters to improve our communication and leadership skills, but the best way to do that is to have an adequate audience.  We also want to have enough members so that we don’t have to be burdened by having to do too many tasks at a meeting.  We need enough membership so that choosing new officers is a pleasant task, with more members wanting to have a leadership role in the club, area, division and district.  We want to make sure that the club provides a great climate for learning and achieving.

We sincerely hope that all our clubs will participate in these contests.  Your club survival may depend on it.  The Area Governors, especially, and the District and Division officers and staff are here to assist you and your club to be able to achieve your goals in a satisfying way.   Let us know when you need help, and we will provide you with ideas and techniques to improve your club.  You, however, are responsible for making the effort to improve yourself and your club, but we will be pleased to provide you with the guidance needed to make your club a success.  The time to start is now!!!!!!!; so happy club success to all of our members.

The following is a description of each of the contests, with the rules and criteria for each,
