INTEGRATING MEETING ROLES WITH THE
NEW COMPETENT LEADER (CL) REQUIREMENTS
Prepared by Jan Leaton, DTM, LGM, District 66, September 2007
As of July 1, 2006, the New Leadership Track for certification as a Competent Leader (CL) was implemented. Those who have already started towards their CL certification using the old leadership requirements will still be recognized under the old requirements (CTM, 2 leadership modules, at least 6 months as a club officer). Members may qualify under the old CL requirements until June 2008.
Beginning July 1, 2006, members may now file the new Leadership awards at the same time they are pursuing the Competent Communicator designation. Clubs will have the responsibility of integrating the new program into club meetings so that everyone participating is evaluated and correct records are maintained.
To help facilitate record keeping, the following form summarizes the requirements for each Leadership Project. As many members belong to more than one club, I suggest that the person evaluating the project is the one to sign off on the project. When a member determines the club to which the award is to be given, the VPE of that club should verify the projects and sign off on the entire Leadership Manual. (To reduce coordination work for the EVP, the GE could select CL Evaluators at the meeting. Weekly clubs could designate one meeting/month to focus on Leadership and to allow verbal CL evaluations - so everyone can learn more about this. Also see Jan’s CL overview. SP)
